Electric Mini Cars
We started by racing human driven DIY $500.00 electric mini cars for
fun. Now we have grown the project  to support DIY cars for autonomous
racing at Fubar Labs and Rutgers Makers . A community has formed around
the project at Fubar Labs; we started with 3 people and grown to be a
group of 10 or more.  As a group, we've learned everything from welding
to machine learning for these projects.

SHOPBOT: Solidworks to CNC: 2D vs 3D machining
Description: With a 3D rendering CAD software such as Solidworks, one
can view the CAD drawings from multiple angles, test the assemblies, and
even create videos of the completed project.  However, not all projects
need to be machined as 3D objects.  We will analyze a couple of projects
designed in Solidworks and determine whether they should be exported as
2D files (.dxf, eps, ai) and machined with a square end mill bit in
sheet goods, or 3D files (.stl) and machined in 3D with a ball nose bit.
 The ShopBot Handibot with FabMo Control software will be our CNC of
choice for this demo.
Diagram of expected setup: We are flexible, as long as the Handibot has
room to work.  I will pre-make samples so we only have to air cut if
noise and dust is a problem.  We have a handout ready to, well, hand
out, with illustrations and work flow.

Description:  SolidWorks is excited to see how smoothness it is mods
integrated with machining. In this demo we'll show how design is sent
from 1) Xdesign cloud and 2) SolidWorks desktop to mods' manufacturing
processes.
