Jon Doctorick is the Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center Technical and Education Manager. In his prior role as Mobile Fab Lab Coordinator, Jon implemented educational Mobile Fab Lab programming throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. He designed and delivered digital fabrication programming that assisted both staff in students in learning how to integrate authentic STEM making experiences into varying curricula. Since Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center’s founding in 2015, he has overseen fast growth within the Mobile Fab Lab department. He added a second, smaller Mobile Fab Lab in 2017, which allowed Fab Lab facilitators to take their portable maker space to sites previously inaccessible. In addition to completing numerous grant-funded projects, he has worked closely with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, a Pennsylvania state government organization that serves students with a multitude of disabilities and special learning needs. Through this partnership, Jon has adapted Mobile Fab Lab program for students on the autism spectrum, students who are blind or visually impaired, as well as students who are living in state correctional facilities. Jon has presented on Mobile Fab Labs and other educational topics at conferences through the United States, as well as in Shenzhen, China; Santiago, Chile; and Toulouse, France.
