Bootstrapping FabLabing: Mohammed A. ElRaffieLearn
A quick glimpse on an actual experience of building a mobile FabLab and several FabLabs around Egypt in a year with a budget less than $150K. The experiment revealed many finding on the mentalities of people and how they perceive the benefit of FabLab, and how we can communicate the capabilities of the FabLab in an easy inexpensive way. I wish to put the focus on how a simple FabLab can make a difference. With simple edits and basic understanding of the machine's anatomy, the cost could be dramatically decreased. As well, the human experience of introducing the FabLab to a new community with low purchasing power. Bonus: a quick demonstration of robot building with minimal material and no motors.
